User roles and permissions
Scopra uses access roles to control which parts of the workspace each person can see and update.
Admin
Admin has full workspace access.
Admins can:
- Open and manage all core areas, including Clients, Projects, SOWs, Resourcing, Timesheets, Invoices, Reports, and Settings
- Invite team members and change access roles
- Create and manage project roles
- Create and manage rate cards
- Create and update clients
- Create and update projects
- Review financial data, billing workflows, and reports
Admin is best for workspace owners and senior operators responsible for setup, governance, and financial oversight.
Finance
Finance focuses on commercial and billing workflows.
Finance users can:
- Access financial workflows such as billing, invoices, and reports
- Review rate-based pricing and billing data
- Work with revenue and invoice tracking
- Open client and project records when they need financial context
Finance users typically do not own workspace administration tasks such as team invitations or settings setup unless they also have Admin access.
Project Manager
Project Manager focuses on day-to-day delivery.
Project Managers can:
- Create and manage projects
- Work with SOWs and Variations
- Manage allocations and delivery planning
- Review project budgets, dates, and status
- Track progress against scope and project budgets
Project Managers typically do not manage workspace-wide settings such as team access, rate cards, or project role setup unless they also have Admin access.
Sales
Sales focuses on pipeline handoff and account setup.
Sales users can:
- Create clients
- Create projects
- Maintain client and project records during setup
- Support early commercial setup before delivery begins
Sales users typically do not manage workspace settings, team permissions, or finance configuration.
Operations
Operations focuses on account setup and record maintenance.
Operations users can:
- Create clients
- Update clients, including addresses and contacts
- Support workspace data quality and setup workflows
- Maintain records needed by delivery and finance teams
Operations users typically do not manage rate cards, team permissions, or other admin-only settings unless they also have Admin access.
Contributor
Contributor has limited access.
Contributors can usually:
- Access work relevant to their assignments
- Enter time and complete day-to-day delivery tasks
- View project context they need to do their work
Contributors cannot manage workspace settings or high-impact commercial configuration such as team permissions or rate cards.
How to choose the right role
Use Admin for workspace setup and governance.
Use Finance for billing, invoicing, and reporting.
Use Project Manager for project delivery, SOW management, and resourcing.
Use Sales for client and project creation during commercial setup.
Use Operations for maintaining client records and operational data.
Use Contributor for team members who need limited access to assigned work.
Related access areas
Some actions also depend on the part of Scopra you are using:
- Settings actions such as team invitations, project role setup, and rate card management are typically restricted to Admin
- Billing and Invoices are primarily used by Finance and Admin
- Projects, SOWs, and Resourcing are primarily used by Project Manager and Admin
- Clients can be maintained by Admin, Sales, and Operations
If someone needs access across multiple areas, assign the role that matches the broadest part of their job.
